Zach ('19): Today was the first day of Winterim and we aren't leaving until tomorrow. Today we studied the places we were assigned to study with our group and make a google slides presentation on what we can do there. We also went over what we would be doing in California and seeing what we do on each day.
Day Two:
February 28, 2017
In which we leave cold Connecticut and make our way West.
California, here we come!
After a full day of traveling we arrived at our Sacramento hotel around midnight (Pacific time).
Caitlin ('19): We left Forman at 11am. We boarded a bus with Rome and we were off. We arrived at JFK and got on our first flight at 4:40pm. This flight went from JFK to Minneapolis. After we arrived in Minneapolis we ran to our gate and boarded the next flight. This flight was from Minneapolis to Sacramento. It was a long and painful flight but we finally made it. We arrived and got our cars and we were on our way to our hotel.

Luke ('20): We drove more and I slept for a good hour in the car. When we got to Yosemite Valley we stopped at a waterfall to take some good pictures. I took pretty good ones in the valley and it was a lot of fun. That was the first relaxing thing that we had done since we had gotten to California. When we got to the hotel we just had gotten our keys and roommates. Then we went out to eat for the first time we had some real food since we left Forman.
After dinner we had gone to the front desk to find out information about Badger Pass. We met up with Mr. McCarthy and Ms. Ramos and went on a night walk.

Rachel ('19): It was beautiful and so relaxing [at Badger Pass]. It was great to be outside with no service and only using our phones for pictures. After that we snowshoed we met up with everyone in the lodge. Before we boarded the bus Zach found a little plant and it combed our hair so perfectly.
Later that night we went back to the same restaurant for dinner and went on another night walk. We stopped at this bridge and looked up at the stars. They were unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it before. It was so cool how the mountains created an outline for the sky.

This tree is even older than Mr. McCarthy! (Just kidding.) This sequoia lived to be more than a thousand years old.

Spencer ('19): Today we woke up slightly earlier than usual because we were getting ready to leave Yosemite and head to Monterey. After we ate breakfast and got packed we began our four hour car ride to Monterey. After two hours we stopped In Merced for a second time where we had pizza for lunch. After the final two hours of the car ride we arrived in Monterey where we checked into our hotel. We then proceeded to walk around the area to see the activities at our disposal. We went shopping for a few hours before going to get dinner.
After dinner we were given one hour to walk around in groups and look around in the stores of our choosing. After this we met as a group before heading back to the hotel and getting ready for bed. We decided to go to bed earlier than usual because we would have to wake up early to get ready for the exciting day ahead of us.

Maddie ('18): Today was the first day in Monterey. We got up really early and had some food. We had sometime to clean and get our stuff ready. We didn’t really know what we were doing so we had to bring a lot of things.
First things first we got on bikes and off we went down the Monterey bike/walk trail. Everyone was really spread out but we all made it back. But we did have a little slip up when Zach fell and cut up his hands. After about a ten mile bike ride we made our way back to the bike rental place.
Dinner was so good. We had a great dinner [at Esteban]. Everyone was very involved and had some great food. I couldn’t stop laughing at Spencer. Overall it was a great night.
